Sarah Palin HATE and the RACE card
I haven’t been alive that long *clears throat* but I swear I’ve never seen so much hate directed toward a single candidate - even a presidential one, let alone a VP! Normally I don’t talk about politics here but even Hollywood is in on the hate-fest.
I seriously have seen the most nasty comments from celebrities, and the most vicious LIES spread by email and even even on Myspace (that bastion of intellectual fortitude.) It’s as if people think that hating this lady is just fine and who needs to research your arguments to see if they are factual or use logic? There’s SO MUCH I can barely touch on it all but I’m going to try to.
First of all, a Democratic Congressman said this: Florida Rep. Alcee Hastings on Wednesday warned two minority groups to beware of Sarah Palin because “anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks.”
So, somehow if you shoot a gun and hunt, you are racist towards Jews and blacks. Yeah. That’s logical.
Then there’s this email circulating around, again, totally race baiting, saying she gets a free pass in life because she is WHITE. I’m not making this up:
“White privilege is when you can call yourself a “fuckin’ redneck,” like
Bristol Palin’s boyfriend does, and talk about how if anyone messes with
you, you’ll “kick their fuckin’ ass,” and talk about how you like to “shoot
shit” for fun, and still be viewed as a responsible, all-American boy (and a
great son-in-law to be) rather than a thug.”
So, this lady’s teenage daughter had sex with a not-so-bright kid, and it has somehow, something to do with race? Not only that, what does a 17 year old’s emotional, hormonal, decision making have to do with her mother? This is somehow an argument not to vote for her? A VP candidate? Really? That’s the best you got? Oh wait, it’s just pure hate.
“* If your name is Barack you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids Willow , Trig and Track, you’re a maverick.”
First of all, no one in the media or the prominent conservative movement is saying Obama is a Muslim. It’s a strawman. Plus, you really have to bring up what people name their kids? This is somehow politically relevant? Really?
Hollywood hates her too. Sandra Bernhardt: The Republican V.P. nom would be “gang-raped by my big black brothers” if she enters Manhattan. There’s plenty more nasty stuff from Hollywood about Palin if you look. Pamela Anderson, “I cant stand her. She can suck it,” she told E! News from Canada.
It’s just a hatefest. I’ve seen so many crazy lies posted about Ms. Palin I can hardly believe it. When I ask why people don’t like her they mostly say emotional stuff, repeat some of these lies, or just say things like she is “an idiot.” Look, if you don’t like her politically, fine. But really, gang raped? Attacking her family? Disagree, sure, but playing the race card and speaking out in anger and lies really doesn’t accomplish anything. Maybe it’s too late to ask people to be civil, but at least check your facts first.

Ah, yes, nothing like politics to stir up the shit stew. I don’t like her because she’s flat out incompetent and as big a crook and liar as any other Alaska politician. But I did my homework, and feel justified in saying those things. I don’t care if she’s a redneck; I myself happen to be a blueneck, and have accepted that.
But if you’re equating Sandra Bernhardt and Pam Anderson to the mainstream media, you’re a bit off. She’s(Caribou Barbie) a polarizing figure with very extreme views, and that set’s progressive-minded people off. Also, the last poll conducted by the AP said that roughly 1/3 of those polled believed that Obama was a muslim, so the strawman is working, thanks in part to EIB Radio and Fixed News.
You go Steve! I completely agree with you. There’s no reason for people to be hating her as much as they do. And as for “progressive-minded”, well, that’s just the new buzzword since “liberal” has taken a negative connotation. Means the same thing, though. I also hate to disagree, but rather than Palin having “extreme views”, her views actually match up with most mainstream people.
Oh, please. First of all, McCain may be old, but that doesn’t mean he’s near death. In fact, a recent insurance underwriters group said he had AT LEAST 8 years of good health ahead of him. That’s hardly about to die. Second, believing in creationism and intelligent design doesn’t mean leaving your brain at the door. There are some compelling SCIENTIFIC reasons to believe in it and compelling SCIENTIFIC reasons to disbelieve important parts of Darwinian evolution. You can believe or disbelieve each without bringing religion into to it at all. There are numerous scientists with PhDs and extensive peer-reviewed publishing that don’t believe in evolution.
Please don’t simply sling names. That’s what Steve’s blog was about, and you just proved him right. Rather than making an informed, rational decision, you are having a knee-jerk reaction to a single issue that you don’t seem to understand. I don’t mind if someone disagrees with me or other conservatives, as long as they have factual, logical reasons, and aren’t just spouting talking points and vitriol.
Meh, I just deleted the comments cause I figured it would annoy that person the most. Plus the “invisible sky wizard” jab is getting a bit old, even for the internet.
Anyway, thanks for your comments, DOCTOR Chris. :) Funny how we both have advanced degrees yet somehow we believe in God. Must be something wrong somewhere, eh?
You know, “some guy”, you just keep proving his point. Rather than joining in a logical debate, you once again prove Steve’s point. You bring up NO points whatsoever. You actually bring no discussion whatsoever. You are merely spewing anger and bitterness. This is typical of most liberals that I’ve heard speak. Neither Steve nor I have a problem with debate and discussion. In fact, we both enjoy it. Why not give it at try?
And as Steve mentioned, I do have an advanced degree. I have a BS, MS, and doctorate. I have published in an international scientific journal and have taught college Biology. So I feel qualified to discuss such matters, as well have a good understanding of analytical reasoning.
Wow, a dose of cynicism anyone? There is absolutely nothing about the nature of faith and religion that precludes logical discussion. The fact that you believe such means that you really don’t understand either faith or religion. There’s also nothing about religion that is anti-logic or anti-science. I have been a college biology instructor, and have taught these very issues. My department head even sat in on my lecture on evolution, where I presented the pros and cons of the theory. She later commended me on how I handled the issue. And this is a completely secular college, NOT a religious one! Being a Christian and being a scientist is NOT mutually exclusive. Additionally, you are perpetuating one of the lies about Sarah Palin; she has not stated that she wants creationism taught, only that it shouldn’t be avoided if it comes up in class discussion. Did you even bother clicking on the link?
Liberals are supposed to be “open-minded” and promote “tolerance” of “alternate lifetyles” and “social differences”. Liberals are supposed to be accepting of people who are “different” and outsiders of society. However, I have consistently seen that this applies to everybody EXCEPT Christians and conservatives. When presented with someone who thinks and acts differently than themselves or has an opposing viewpoint, Liberals suddenly become closed-minded and intolerant. Some Guy, your comments are simply upholding that stereotype.
Steve, I’d love to see if Some Guy can actually debate these issues without being emotional and judgmental. However, I would be surprised if he could do so without resorting to lies and Democratic talking points. If he could stick to facts and not vitriol, would you allow his comments to stand?
I dunno, like he said, Sarah wants to “teach creationism” in schools, which is one of the myths in the article I linked to. She does not. Just click the link people. So, if the guy can’t even read my link I posted and repeats the same myths, is he worth talking to?
I’ve noticed recently a lot of places really seem to hate people who believe in God, in general, like me. As if somehow centuries of great philosophers and scientists who believed in God are trumped by this one generation that started tending away from that. Of course, our current generation is smarter and better than any one that has gone before, right? :)
But if the guy can’t even identify his name or anything, and just wants to be a jerk about it, I’ll just delete him. The truth is, I really just don’t care what he has to say, he’s a lost cause and a waste of my time and yours.
I mean really, why the heck would he even be coming back here to check this dinky blog? Why does he care? I certainly don’t care enough to check these comments that often, and it’s my own blog. Maybe he can find some other Christians to scream at about their sky wizard, but this ain’t the place.
And once again, he shows a total and complete closed-mindedness. “Waste my time”? “Biased, non-factual”? How intellectually honest to make up your mind without actually engaging a single brain cell or actually bothering to read the article.
The liberal stereotype lives!
